Taster’s Coffee, a Taiwanese roaster and gear maker with a store in Kobe, Japan, entered its GX2 V2 dripper in the SCAJ 2026 New Products Award this week. The GX2 is the one pour-over dripper that drains by siphon to maintain steady flow, and the V2 can now switch between a cone and a flat bed.

How the GX2 dripper works

Most drippers have ribs to create channels for water to bypass through. Instead, the GX2 has a cone in the middle and a narrow drain underneath that create a siphon: once the water rises past a set level, negative pressure pulls the brew down. Taster’s Coffee says a siphon flows about twice as fast as gravity drip, hence the name, and the ribless wall forces every drop through the coffee.

What’s new in the V2

  • A modular drain tube. On the original GX2 the drawdown slowed as the water level fell. The V2 adds a screw-together extension that lowers the outlet, so the pressure difference holds through the brew. It comes in three segments: shorter for a slower drip, longer for a faster one.

  • Flat-bottom mode. New for 2026: pull the cone out with a pin and drop in the GX2 Flat tool, a mesh disc that turns the dripper into a flat-bed brewer. Taster’s Coffee pitches the cone for body and fruit, and the flat bed for a cleaner, faster cup.

  • No special paper. The cone takes any No. 02 cone filter, folded against the included cup. The flat bed takes ordinary 155 or 185 mm round papers, pressed into shape with the filter press.
