Hario Taiwan's Alpha dripper now comes in Lao Yan Ni clay

The Hario Alpha dripper, a cone with recessed ribs sold by Hario Taiwan, now comes in Lao Yan Ni (老岩泥), the clay of Taiwanese ceramics studio Tao Zuo Fang (陶作坊). Hario Taiwan launched it on October 20, 2026, and says it will have the dripper at its booth at the Taiwan International Coffee Show next month.

What the Alpha dripper is

Hario Taiwan already sells the Alpha 01 in Tritan plastic (a pink version arrived October 23) and in a serpentine-pattern ceramic. It lists the same two design points for the new clay version:

• V60-style outlet. One large hole, the same design as the V60, per Hario Taiwan.
• 24 recessed ribs. Instead of raised ribs, the Alpha has long and short grooves cut into the wall. Hario Taiwan says it tuned their depth over repeated tests so the paper hugs the wall while air still escapes, and the brew doesn’t clog easily.

What’s new is the material: a matte, earthy outside and a glossy brown inside. Hario and Tao Zuo Fang have worked together before: retailers in Taiwan sell Lao Yan Ni versions of the V60 from the two.

Price and availability

The Alpha Lao Yan Ni 01 (ADCR-01-BR, 1–2 cups) is NT$1,680 on Hario Taiwan’s web shop, the same price as the serpentine ceramic Alpha 01. Only the 01 size is listed. Hario hasn’t said whether it will be sold outside Taiwan.

See it at the Taiwan International Coffee Show

Hario Taiwan will be at booth M832 on the fourth floor of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, November 13–16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (5 p.m. on the last day). It says more events and new products for the show will be announced, so expect more news alongside Hario Japan’s SCAJ launches such as the Glass Rinse Assist.
